’Tis the season to bring a community together….
Downer Framing helps Brent Cross Rise & Shine this Christmas
Christmas week is finally here, and to celebrate, we’re putting the spotlight on this magnificent Downer framing project.
That isn’t a Christmas project you might think, and you’d be right… but its sentiment and what it strives to achieve is very much in the season of goodwill.
“Here we come, Here we rise and shine” is a living piece of public art, created by artist Lakwena, which dramatically wraps around Brent Cross Town’s new primary electrical substation.
‘The inspirational statement reflects the ambition to inspire and bring people together in the local community.’ (Lakwena, known for her joyful technicolour murals and graphical text poetry, has applied her signature colour, pattern and language to the design.)
In the words of inspirational architects’ IF_DO
‘Brent Cross Town, which is being delivered in partnership by Related Argent and Barnet Council, is being designed to be a net zero carbon development by 2030, and investment in efficient new infrastructure is a key part of this. The project puts circular economy principles into action with 50% of the structural steel being salvaged from unused oil pipelines, reducing embodied carbon emissions by over 40%.’
We are so proud to have been involved in this innovative project with the supply of our Downer Helping Hand System (DCD031) thanks to our clients, FIFTH ELEVATION LIMITED. And we’re thrilled that it made it on to Dezeen Awards Longlist, Made in Britain – official)
A word from our Technical Manager, Juan Cid Barato
‘This project required a fully engineered framing system to support the 3mm thick PPC aluminium in a series of triangulates shapes and although there were some challenges, we offered exactly what was needed. We produced project specific calculations for bespoke vertical ZEDS and top hat supports as well as our DCS031 HELPING HAND SYSTEM.’
